A target amount that a salesperson must sell for a particular period (month, quarter, year).

These targets may be stated in dollar amounts, a number of goods or services sold, percentages, etc. Incentive payouts are often based on a person’s performance relative to their quota (i.e., their attainment).

Quotas can be expressed as absolute numbers, a percent(100 percent), percent change or units sold. Also referred to as goal, objective and performance target.
